Our approach

One considered process.
Every step connected.

A useful process makes the next decision clearer. This is the imagined working method behind the Alder & Tide studies.

01 / Listen & discover

Begin with the place
and the people.

Map the everyday routines, the important views and the spaces that need to work harder. Walk the site in different conditions and establish what information is still missing.

The outcome is a shared brief: priorities, constraints and the questions that a design needs to answer. For a real project, survey and planning advice would sit alongside that brief.

02 / Shape the idea

Test before
committing.

Explore a small number of useful alternatives through plans, sections and material studies. Compare how each handles light, privacy, circulation and the relationship to the landscape.

A preferred direction becomes more specific through coordinated drawings and samples. Scope, budget and technical constraints remain part of the conversation, rather than being deferred until the design is fixed.

03 / Make it carefully

Stay attentive
to the details.

Carry the purpose of the design into the junctions, finishes and sequences that make a building. Review changes in the context of the whole, with clear communication between the people responsible.

On an actual commission, inspections, commissioning and handover information would complete the process. These fictional studies stop at the concept stage and do not represent built or technically verified outcomes.
